The phono module is an independent analog phono preamplifier for full or preamplifiers without phono input. The phono part from our preamplifier HP 200 MM / MC / MKII is used in the phono module. The MKII phono part is a further development of our hybrid phono technology. The further development is that the amplifier stage required for the RIAA equalization was implemented with three tubes, not as is usually the case with two tube systems. Only the use of three tubes in the RIAA equalizer makes it possible to maintain the RIAA curve exactly and guarantees a consistently low distortion level from 10 Hz upwards. The sound image, especially in the basic tone, becomes extremely precise and physical.

Schon über den Festpegelausgang, an der gleichen Vorstufe, durch die auch die anderen Preamps spielen mussten, verblüffte der Octave mit einer Dynamik im Tieftonbereich, die schlicht einer anderen Dimension zu entstammen schien. Diese wie atomgetriebene Kraft war bei leisen, delikat produzierten Platten sogar noch auffälliger als bei Krawallstücken."
