Integrated Amplifier V 80 |
Production: 2008 - 2015 |
 |
The V 80 line level integrated amplifier is a completely new development, with the output stage based on the concept of the OCTAVE MRE 130 mono amplifier. His outstanding characteristic is an unbelievably melodic timbre and his unshakable performance. He reproduces any music with authority and natural elegance, instantly captivating the listener. Fundamental notes, warmth, three-dimensionality and speed, the V 80 plays music effortlessly and with pure joy. "Watt is not the same as Watt": At dynamic peaks, when other amplifiers begin to collapse, the V 80 truly comes to life. It is not without reason that the V 80 won the highly respected "Jazz Component Award" in Japan (as the best overseas component) in 2008 and next the Pure Audio Grand Prix Award in 2009. The V 80 transcends far beyond the technical and tonal attributes of the V 40SE and V 70SE integrated amplifier models, and performs without peer in its own exalted league. He is built for listeners who don't want to install big pre- and power amplifier combinations, but who have the highest expectations and requirements regarding sound quality and system functionality. As the top of the line OCTAVE integrated amplifier offering, the V 80 contains all the features modern entertainment equipment requires for convenience and connectivity. |

Preamplifier HP 500 |
Production: 1987 - 1992 (HP 500); 1991 - 2002 (HP 500 MK2); 2001 - 2006 (HP 500 MK3);
since 2003 (HP 500 SE). |
 |
The HP 500 has been produced since 1987. Many detailed improvements and changes have been included during these years and have made it tonally even more attractive.
The current MK3 version is e.g. serially equipped with an external power supply. XLR output with transformer symmetrization and the further developed phono part are options making the device one of the most universal tube preamps of our times. Of course older models can be upgraded to innovations.

Vorverstärker HP 300 |
Production: 2001 - 2007 (HP 300); since 2007 (HP 300 MK2) |
 |
The circuit concept of the HP 300 originates from the reference preamp of the Jubilee line that has been highly praised by the HiFi specialist press.
Like in our top model, also in the HP 300, tubes as amplifying elements have the central, tonally crucial role. Moreover, new passive supergain semiconductor circuits guarantee the required load stability at the output. The promising combination of tubes and transformers in our newest preamp results in measurable and audible advantages. Since OCTAVE realizes the interface to the output stages with semiconductor circuits, the HP 300 convinces by outstanding measurement results. Delivered from output charge, the tubes can develop uninhibitedly their tonal and dynamic sound characteristics.

Preamplifier HP 200 |
Production: 1992 - 2001 (HP 200 with optional Phono MM/MC);
1994 (HP 200 with external Power Supply); from 1995 (HP 200 Phono MK2) |
 |
The tube preamp HP 200 was produced from 1992 to 2002. Its concept is based upon the OCTAVE hybrid circuit in connection with the combined power supply control electronics. Specialization of the hybrid circuit enabled an amplifier concept that needs an operating voltage of only 150 V.
This allowed development of an economical version of the successful HP 500.
The device has a multi-level soft-start electronics which excludes switching and operating errors. In case of mains oscillations or power breakdown, the device switches off. For tube exchange, no adjustment is required.

Stereo Power Amplifier V 50 E |
Production: 1997 - 2003 (V 50); 2003 - 2005 (V50 MK2) |
 |
The output stage V 50 E is identical to the output stage of the integrated amp V 50. That is why data and test results of the integrated amp V 50 apply to this device also.
The advancement of the OCTAVE power supply (and amplifier) electronics allowed a new generation of tube amps setting benchmarks in this price category.
Essential points of this new technology are auto-BIAS electronics and in the amp technology the abandonment of overall negative feedback as far as possible.
The latter is of utmost importance for correct timing of the music signal. Conception and casing mechanics of the new series follow strictly functional aspects. We considered the tonal result more important than a sophisticated and costly design.

Integrated Amplifier V 50 |
Production: 1997 - 2003 (V 50); 2003 - 2005 (V 50 MK2) |
 |
Derived from the technology in the OCTAVE Jubilee reference output stages, an elaborate stabilization of supply and control voltages of the type EL 34 pentode output tubes results in another audibly increased sound quality. In the control circuit of the V50 upgrade, two high voltage FET transistors provide absolutely stable voltages. Another modification with relevance to sound is consistent supply of the tube heating with optimized DC voltages. In rectification, Schottky diods and filter capacitors with 60,000 µF are employed.
This additional stabilization and rectification of all operating voltages results in clearly improved measurement results.
The signal-to-noise ratio increases by rich 10 dB. With a sensational value of -98 dB, the V50 MK II can confidently defy even excellent transistor devices. While in conventional amps noise and ripple grow with increasing power output and are only covered by the music, in the OCTAVE V50 MK II these interference factors remain independent of volume on a constantly low level.

Mono Power Amplifier MRE 120 |
Production: 1994 - 2004 (MRE 120), since 2004 (MRE 130) |
 |
Push-pull mono output stages with new driver electronics for control of output tubes. The new concept achieves improved impulse reaction for complex charges and reduced distortion especially for low charge impedances.
Suitable for speakers like Martin Logan, Avalon, Audio Physik, Caldera, Isophon Vertigo, Europa, ...

Mono Power Amplifier M 100 |
Production: 1997 - 2000 |
 |
The output stage of the tube mono output stage M 100 is a further development of the output stage of the integrated amp V 50. In this output stage concept, a new phase shifter concept is implemented to eliminate the system-inherent disadvantages of traditional push-pull output stages.
The DC-coupled phase shifter is constant up to about 4 MHz and does therefore not impair at all the total reaction of the output stage.
Phase constancy of the output stage also leads to stability for complex charges, as is unique for tube output stages.
The reaction at the threshold of the transfer range (deep bass, high frequency) is now constant. Attenuation and distortion are largely independent of frequency.

Phonomodule |
Production: 1994 - 1999 |
 |
The phono module is an independent analog phono preamp for integrated amps or preamps without phono input. In the phono module, the phono component from our preamp HP 200 MM/MC/MKII is employed. The MKII phono component is a further development of our hybrid phono technology.
The further development consists in realization of the amplifier stage required for RIAA equalization with three tubes, not with two tube systems as usual.
Only implementation of three tubes in the RIAA equalizer allows exact adherence to the RIAA curve and guarantees a consistently low distortion level from 10 Hz upwards. The sound pattern in the fundamental sound becomes immensely precise and three-dimensional.

Filter II |
Production: 1994 - 1997 |
 |
The OCTAVE power line filter, Filter II, is based on the knowledge that an effective sound improvement is only possible by real separation of the devices from mains (simulation of accumulator operation). Traditional LC-filters do attenuate high frequency interferences, but low frequency interferences and equalizing currents due to “normal” power supply units of devices are not prevented. These equalizing currents are parasitic currents flowing in the signal wires between the devices and definitely having negative impact upon sound. |
